David Vacala

David Vacala serves as Managing Director of Advanced Tradecraft Training of Patriot Defense Group, which he joined in 2013. Prior to joining Patriot Defense Group, Mr. Vacala served with the U.S. Government for 30 years, 26 of which were with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as an Operations Officer and Senior Operations Manager. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.S. in Russian Civilization. After graduating, Mr. Vacala joined the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) as an Intelligence Analyst. In 1987, he joined the CIA as a Career Trainee with the Directorate of Operations, now known as the National Clandestine Service (NCS).

During his career with the NCS, Mr. David Vacala’s overseas assignments included tours of duty in Egypt, Sri Lanka, Germany, India, Nepal, and Iraq. He served as Chief of Base in a priority South Asian country as well as Chief of Station in another South Asian country. Mr. Vacala served two tours as an NCS Field Tradecraft Instructor at the CIA’s Special Training Center.

Upon retirement from the CIA in 2012, Mr. David Vacala was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal by the CIA in recognition of exceptional achievements in support of CIA intelligence and operational missions.
